Open Rhinoplasty

Closed Rhinoplasty  

The earliest method of nose surgery is closed rhinoplasty, which is now used by many plastic surgeons in the United States. In closed rhinoplasty surgery, a small incision in the nostrils is made by surgeons in which he/she can make changes without having to lift the skin of the nose.

It is considered to be less invasive and of shorter duration than open rhinoplasty and is, therefore, better suited to addressing features that correct the shape of the tip of the nose.

The biggest disadvantage of closed rhinoplasty is that incisions can weaken the nose structure, which may affect its shape in the future. Given the limited access that closed rhinoplasty allows plastic surgeons, cartilage and tissue are too small and sensitive to make changes. As the incisions are located in the nose, patients may have visible scars, swelling, and a short period of recovery after the operation.
