The difference in procedures is the extent of scarring. Flaps are used during a simple lift procedure. Fat transfer is used for patients who desire a more fullness over their buttock area. Implant Augmentation for Lips
AlloDerm is a dermal graft/implant that was previously used as a skin replacement for people who suffered from burns. Nowadays, doctors understand the numerous benefits of AlloDerm and it is a safe and natural implant that can be used to replace lip tissue that has become aged and it can rejuvenate wrinkled lips.
SoftForm and soft “ePTFE” (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene) implants are synthetic implants used for augmentation and have proven to be safe and non-allergenic. This is a great option for people with thin or aging lips.
Recovery Time
After you have a lip enhancement with an injectable product, you will have swollen lips for only a few hours. The next day, you will be able to resume your normal activities. You may need to have a touch-up treatment to get the best results.
There is very minimal discomfort when you get implants for lip augmentation. You may need to have a few small stitches to close up the implant site and any stitches used will be removed after a few days. You may have some minor swelling for up to a week. If you keep your head elevated and apply cold compresses for the first day, it should keep your swelling to a minimum.
Any discomfort you experience can be alleviated with medication. It may be a little difficult to eat and brush your teeth, but that will only last for a couple of days. If you have any bruising, it will be minor and can be covered up with make-up.
